asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider refunding to retailers the purchase tax they have paid on those articles which are now relieved of such tax, in view of the fact that these articles are now only saleable at a loss.

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply which I gave yesterday to the hon. Member for St. Marylebone (Sir W. Wakefield) and my hon. Friend the Member for Winchester (Mr. Jeger).
