asked the Attorney-General whether, in order to meet the convenience of all parties concerned, he will extend the jurisdiction of the Blackpool District Registry of the High Court to matrimonial causes similar to that of the registries named in Appendix I to the Matrimonial Causes Rules, 1944.

The Attorney-General:

Yes, Sir. My Noble Friend the Lord Chancellor has consulted with the Lord Chief Justice and the President of the Divorce Division and it is proposed to extend the jurisdiction of the Blackpool District Registry in the manner suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend. Divorce jurisdiction is also to be conferred on the District Registries at Southport, Halifax, Coventry, Reading and Peterborough. The new jurisdiction will be exerciseable at these places on and after 1st July next.
