HC Deb 07 May 1946 vol 422 cc73-4W
86. Mr. Spence

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the Huntly-Market Muir camp and the Meadow Bank camp are not situated it the Gladstone Road, Huntly; if he will now state the cost of building the Army huts and services in that road; the date of commencement and completion of the work; and the numbers by which they are now occupied.

Mr. Lawson:

I understand that the huts in Gladstone Road were in fact constructed as an overflow to the two camps referred to, and I regret that I did not make this point clear in my previous answer. The cost of building these particular huts was £960. Part of the work was done in November and December, 1942, and the rest between November, 1945, and February, 1946. The garrison engineer and his staff of about nine persons recently moved into some of the huts in order to release the Old Police Station, Huntly. The remainder are used for housing engineer stores.
