asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many men and women are employed in the Department of Health; how many of these employees are temporary; and how many possess medical degrees.

Mr. Westwood:

The number of men and women employed in the Department of Health for Scotland at 1st April, 1946, was 749 (363 male and 386 female) of whom 353 were temporary employees. Those possessing medical degrees numbered 23. The foregoing figures do not include staff employed in the Department's emergency hospitals and stores.
