HC Deb 07 May 1946 vol 422 c70W
74. Major J. Morrison>

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if, in order to give men serving overseas and shortly to be demobilised an equal chance with applicants in this country, he will arrange that all Government appointments advertised through the Press shall have at least three clear weeks allowed for replying for application for such posts, instead of seven days, as sometimes occurs at present.

Mr. Glenvil Hall:

Normal practice is to allow ample time for applications, both from men serving at home and men serving overseas, and if the hon. and gallant Member would care to send me particulars of any cases where adequate notice was not given, I shall be glad to took into them.
