§ Mr. Mitchisonasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that there is considerable delay in the payment of treatment allowances to wives when a husband is admitted to a mental hospital on account of neurosis; and what steps he proposes to take to hasten payment in such cases.
§ Mr. Wilfred Paling:There is usually no appreciable delay in the payment of treatment allowances in such cases, or in the case of any other disability, if the condition requiring treatment has already been accepted as due to service. If it has not, some investigation is inevitable before a decision can be pronounced, but every effort is made to expedite the decision. A letter has been sent to the hon. and learned Member regarding the individual case in which he is interested.
