HC Deb 06 May 1946 vol 422 cc45-6W
71. Mr. G. Williams

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what progress has been made in negotiating with the Canadian Government to introduce legislation for reciprocal arrangements to be made between this country and Canada for agreement on the Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Act, 1920.

Mr. Parker:

As was stated by my right hon. Friend the Minister of State, in reply to a question by the hon. and gallant Member for Macclesfield (Air-Command Harvey) on 1st May, this matter has been taken up with the Canadian authorities who are considering what action, if any, they can take. I explained in my statement in the Debate on 19th December the difficulties in the way of legislation in Canada, which would be a matter for each of the Parliaments of the several Canadian Provinces.
