Major Leģģe-Bourkeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why the recent applications made by Mr. R. F. Findlay for a renewal of his passport and a travel identity card were refused, despite the application of other ex-internees under Regulation 18B having been granted.
§ Mr. Ede:I cannot accept the suggestion that every one of those persons who were detained under Regulation 18B must be treated alike in this matter. Applications from individuals for facilities to travel abroad are each considered on merits, and I have decided that it would be contrary to the public interest to allow Mr. Findlay to leave the country at the present time.
