§ Lieut.-Colonel Sharpasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury when it is anticipated that the work of the Tithe Redemption Commission will be completed; and why it is proposed to increase the staff of the Commission during 1946.
§ Mr. Glenvil Hall:A large part of the work of the Commission was suspended at the outbreak of War and many of the staff were released to other Departments and 24W for military service. The purpose of the present increases is to restore the prewar position and enable the Commission to perform its statutory duties, but some time must elapse before the process can be completed. It is estimated that thereafter a period of about five years will be required for the completion of the work of the Commission.
