HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 c414W
99. Mr. D. Jones

asked the Minister of National Insurance whether he is aware that, in cases where the improvement in the Royal Warrant has given a higher rate of pension to pensioners, the Assistance Board are deducting an equivalent amount from their supplementary payment, with the effect of leaving the pensioner no better off than previously; and if he will give instructions that such improvements in pensions shall be disregarded by the Assistance Board.

Mr. J. Griffiths

The treatment of disability pensions by the Assistance Board is presented by Statute. The situation referred to by my hon. Friend can only arise where a pensioner is already receiving the full advantage of the 20s. of his pension which the Board is required to disregard in assessing need.
