HC Deb 21 March 1946 vol 420 cc402-3W
56. Mrs. Mann

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that the promise given to the hon. Member for Coatbridge in December, about deferring Glasgow engineering students to allow them to sit-their final examination this month, has not been kept; that these students have been called up and some are now in uniform; and what action does he propose to remedy this situation.

Mr. Ness Edwards

As soon as notice of this Question was given, immediate inquiries were made, but on the information so far available it is not possible to say whether any of the students covered by the undertaking given by my right hon. Friend have been called up. It would assist my right hon. Friend in dealing with the matter if my hon. Friend would let me have any details in her possession.
