HC Deb 20 March 1946 vol 420 c373W
96. Mr. Henderson Stewart

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what numbers of landing craft have been completed in Leith during the last three months; how many are now under construction; how many will be completed during the next three months; how many of these craft so far completed have been put into direct service by the Admiralty; how many have been laid up; how many have been scrapped; and for what purpose will those now under construction be used.

Mr. Dugdale

One landing craft has been completed at Leith in the last three months and it has been commissioned; two more are under construction and will be completed during the next three months. None of these craft will be laid up or scrapped, although their reduction to a reserve complement may be necessary temporarily owing to manning difficulties whilst demobilisation proceeds. They are required for the postwar Assault Training Force.
