Mr. Osborneasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is aware of the disappointment caused by the notice recently displayed at the Royal Naval Barracks, Chatham, that members of the writer branch are to be retained for an unspecified period by invoking the military necessity clause; and how many new writers have been trained, and are in training, to replace these men who feel their demobilisation has been unfairly further delayed.
§ 106 Captain Crowderasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is aware that the release of writers serving in the Royal Navy is still very much behind the aver age; what progress has been made in the remustering and training of new entrants for this branch; and how soon he anticipates that their release will catch up with other trades.
