§ Mr. Burdenasked the Minister of Labour the number of persons registered as unemployed in the employment exchanges in Sheffield; the periods for which these persons have been registered; and what steps are being taken to place them in employment.
§ Mr. IsaacsAt nth February, the latest date for which figures are available, the number of unemployed insured persons suitable for ordinary employment on the register of employment exchanges in Sheffield was 1,574. Of this number 407 had been unemployed for not more than two weeks. As regards the last part of the Question, over 500 persons are being placed in employment each week by the Sheffield employment exchanges and special consideration is given to the placing of those applicants who have been312W unemployed for longer than a week or two.
