Mr. Channonasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the present shortage of accommodation for mental defectives; and whether, in his next return dealing with housing, he will include a section dealing with the steps which have been taken to increase the accommodation for such persons.
§ Mr. BevanI am aware of the present shortage of accommodation for mental defectives; and as soon as the situation permits, I hope that it may be possible to accord a high degree of priority to the provision of additional accommodation. Meanwhile the accommodation diverted to the Emergency Medical Service during the war is being returned as quickly as practicable. It would not be appropriate to include particulars of this matter in the housing returns.
