§ Miss WilkinsonI am not aware that any developments under the Education Act, 1944, have had the effect suggested by the hon. Member. I understand, however, that the recent extension of the 255W system of apprenticeship in the building industry has caused a sudden increase in the demand for educational facilities for building trade apprentices, which, in present circumstances, it is not everywhere possible to meet immediately. Some time lag is inevitable while premises are being provided and staff assembled, but I am confident that local education authorities are doing all that is possible
