§ Mr. Garry Allighanasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that the system by which the only qualification for 106W eligibility for a resettlement grant for ex-Servicemen recognised by his Department is that a disablement pension has been granted, has created hardships; and 107W if he will reconsider the matter with a view to enlarging the field for such grants.
§ Mr. IsaacsThe hon. Member appears to be under a misapprehension. The Resettlement Grants Scheme was designed to provide assistance, where necessary, to enable men and women who were in business or work on their own account, which they had to relinquish as a direct result of their war service, to restart their former business or resume their former occupation; and to assist persons disabled by war service to set up in business for the first time.
