§ 129. Captain Marplesasked the Minister of War Transport if he is aware that the s.s. "Banaderos"which left the Canary Islands on 21st February for London, unloaded tomatoes which were subsequently re forwarded by rail across England for reshipment to Eire; and whether he will take steps to avoid this uneconomical use of transport.
§ Mr. BarnesThe cargo carried by the "Banaderos" amounted to some 1,300 tons, all of which was destined for London with the exception of about 270 tons of tomatoes in transit for Eire. The tomatoes, which were carried on deck, did not shut out any cargo for the United Kingdom. In the circumstances I do not regard this as an uneconomical use of transport.
