§ 97. Mr. Piratinasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if, in view of the fact that Malaya is no longer under military administration but under civilian government, he will take steps to repeal the laws in operation in Malaya before the Japanese occupation which make the present Communist party of Malaya illegal.
§ Mr. George HallThe amendment of the existing law in the Malayan Union and Singapore, which requires that a society must apply for and he accepted for registration before it can be a lawful society, is at present under consideration. In the meanwhile, all societies, including the Malayan Communist Party, are being permitted to operate whether registered or not. This applies equally to the period of Military Administration and to the Civil Administration which has now taken its place
