§ 37. Mr. F. Andersonasked the Minister of Labour if Servicemen who are on demobilisation leave are entitled to sign on at the employment exchange prior to the date of demobilisation; and, in such cases where men have signed on as available for work, will they be entitled to receive unemployment pay.
§ Mr. Ness EdwardsYes, Sir, Servicemen are free to register for employment at employment exchanges during their demobilisation leave. With regard to the last part of the Question, I am informed by my right hon. Friend the Minister of National Insurance, that a Serviceman in these circumstances is not entitled to receive unemployment benefit while he continues to receive full Service pay, that is to say, until the end of his demobilisation leave.
