HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 cc281-2W
51. Sir G. Fox

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an estimate of the amount of money being transferred to Ireland by people leaving this country on account of high taxation and moving to the Free State to avoid taxation; what steps he intends to take to stop this potential loss of revenue; and what are the estimated figures for the next two or three years, respectively, of capital so transferred.

Mr. Dalton

The movement of funds within the sterling area is not subject to restriction, and statistics are, therefore, not available.
