§ 107. Mr. Nallyasked the Secretary of State for War whether the order to British occupation forces prohibiting marriage between British Servicemen and German or Austrian women has been relaxed in the case of Colonel J. M. D. Wood, a Regular Army officer, in view of the fact that Frau Maria Holy, an Austrian lady, has recently been granted an entry permit to this country to marry this officer.
§ 113. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that an Austrian woman was enabled to fly to this country in order to be married to an English officer; and, in view of this, whether any facilities are now to be 296W granted to ordinary soldiers to marry Austrian or German girls.
§ 119. Major J. Freemanasked the Secretary of State for War whether the ban on the marriage of British troops with German and Austrian women has now been lifted, in view of the impending marriage of a British officer with an Austrian woman.
§ Mr. LawsonHis Majesty's Government are now considering the question of marriages between British Servicemen and Austrians. The marriage of Colonel Wood did not amount to a breach of the relevant order since this only affects men actually serving in the Occupation Forces, whereas Colonel Wood has been serving in this country since February. But I am giving further consideration to this case.
