HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 cc314-5W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the nature of the dispute in the threatened strike of railwaymen in India; and what is the proportionate increase in wages, compared with the rise in the cost of living.

Mr. A. Henderson

I understand that according to a resolution passed by the General Council of the All-India Railwaymen's Federation the main points of dispute are (a) the retrenchment of personnel, (b) the revision of pay scales, (c) the rates of dearness allowance, and (d) a demand for three months' war bonus. I am asking the Government of India for information on the point raised in the second part of the Question.
