§ 129. Mr. Goochasked the Secretary of State for War if he will facilitate the return to public use of the numerous rights of way and open spaces still requisitioned by his Department.
§ Mr. LawsonOut of 286 footpaths closed under Defence Regulation 16 during the war 117 have already been officially reopened, and steps are being taken to reopen many more. Each individual case is dealt with on its merits as and when circumstances permit. Open spaces are being released by my Department immediately alternative locations can be provided on War Department estate and every endeavour is being made to release such areas as soon as they are no longer required for essential military commitments.
