§ 96. Lieut.-Commander Joynson-Hicksasked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that the growers of home-produced fruit and vegetables are being grossly undercut by the foreign produce dumped in this country; and what steps he is taking to compensate the home growers for the current rise in the minimum wage of their employees.
§ Mr. StracheyI am most anxious to increase the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables to the public, and while prices are certainly more reasonable, I am satisfied that home producers have no grounds for just complaints of the competition of 193W imported supplies. Changes in production costs in this country are taken into account when maximum growers' prices are fixed.
