Smithasked the Minister of Works what progress has been made by the sub-committee of the Scientific Advisory Committee which was considering the way in which building progress might be maintained in protected conditions during winter weather; and whether he will make a full statement as soon as possible in order to enable local authorities to prepare their plans for the winter months.
§ Mr. TomlinsonA number of devices designed to enable building operations to continue under protected conditions in bad weather have been considered by the sub-committee; but further development and investigation under building site conditions will be necessary before any reliable conclusions can be drawn regarding their practicability.
