§ 89. Mr. Greyasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that none of the roads to and from the City of Durham conform to modern requirements and that differences of opinion between the county council and the city council, in respect of improvements, contribute to this state of affairs; and if he will consider making a personal inspection of these roads to appreciate the seriousness of the position and expedite improvements.
§ Mr. BarnesI am aware that the roads to and from the City of Durham do not in all respects conform to modern standards, but they are not inferior to comparable roads in other parts of the country. I do not know of any difference of opinion between the county council and the city council except on the question of an internal through road, about which I gave an answer to the hon. Member on 8th July.
