§ Mr. Battleyasked the Secretary of State for War whether he is now in a position to release the land now occupied by the services in the parks and open spaces in the County of London, especially Clapham Common, since, in addition, a large proportion is now being used for temporary housing and materials dumps.
§ Mr. Lawson:The general position is still as stated in reply to a question by my hon. Friend on 19th November last. The camp at Clapham Common is fully occupied by troops and I am afraid it cannot be released until alternative and more permanent accommodation can be provided. I can assure my hon. Friend that I shall not retain any of this land longer than is absolutely necessary.
