§ Mr. Osborneasked the Minister of Food if he is aware that the strike of fishermen in Grimsby has been caused by the low price realised for fish catches caused by imported boxed fish; and what steps he is taking to restrict, regulate or prohibit the importation of foreign-caught fish, in view of the fact that British trawlers can supply the home market at reasonable prices.
§ Mr. Strachey:I am aware of the low prices recently realised for certain kinds of fish at Grimsby but in view of the fact that the strike of fishermen is now the subject of investigation by a court of inquiry, I think it would be wrong of me to express an opinion on the causes of the strike or on the action suggested by the hon. Member.
