§ 118. Mr. Bossomasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will take steps to ensure that whatever constitution may be devised for the future government of India, full religious liberty will be secured for the Christian Church and community in India, with freedom to preach the gospel, to make converts and for the circulation of the Bible.
§ Mr. A. HendersonI would refer the hon. Member to paragraph 20 of the statement of 16th May contained in Command Paper 6821, which makes provision for the appointment of an advisory committee on which the Christian community will with other smaller minorities receive due representation to advise the Constituent Assembly in regard to fundamental rights, the protection of minorities, etc. The proposed machinery will thus enable the special interests of Christians to receive consideration.
