§ Mr. Molsonasked the Secretary of State for War, if he is aware that authority for Class B release of 7390995, J. Hilton, was dated 22nd September, 1945; that he was informed by telegram on 2nd October that Hilton was about to return overseas and suggesting extension of leave pending a decision; that on 13th October R.A.S.C. Records inquired whether he was still at home and, if so, to detain him; that he was posted to transit camp, Athens, on 1st December, returned to the United Kingdom on 14th and released on 20th; whether this is a normal lapse of time between signature of authority for Class B release and its completion; and whether he will take steps to improve the machinery of his department for this purpose.
§ Mr. LawsonI regret the delay that occurred in this case, but it was largely due to the fact that the telegram of 2nd October to which the hon. Member refers was inadequately addressed and contained 353W insufficient particulars. The circumstances of this case were quite exceptional.
