HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 cc350-1W
Sir B. Neven-Spence

asked the Minister of War Transport if he will arrange for adequate compensation to be paid to the owners of motor fishing vessels which became constructive total losses during the war.

Mr. Strauss

My Department is only concerned with vessels which were requisitioned during the war, and the owners of such of those as have become constructive total losses while on requisition are entitled to be paid the compensation value agreed in the relevant charter party and if no such value was agreed, then in accordance with the provisions of the Compensation (Defence) Act, 1939.
