§ Major McCallumasked the Undersecretary of State for Air if he is aware that the. West Highland slipway on Kerrera Island, Oban, which was requisitioned early in the last war by his Department, has been lying unoccupied 250W by the R.A.F. for the last seven months or more; that the slipway is required by its rightful owners for reconstruction work on fishing boats and other small craft; and will he take all possible steps to speed up the derequisitioning of this slipway.
§ Mr. StracheyWhile this land was in use by the Royal Air Force large sums of public money were spent on repairs, improvements and additions there. My Department has therefore been negotiating with the owners to secure a reasonable contribution towards the cost of these improvements. We have recently received an offer from the owners, which is now under consideration.
