§ Sir D. Whiteasked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware of the number of huts, formerly used by searchlight units in the country, that are rapidly deteriorating owing to damage to windows, doors, etc.; and will he take steps to dispose of these as quickly as possible in the national interest.
§ Mr. LawsonAs soon as any hutted camp, whether it has been used as a searchlight site or for any other purpose, is found to be surplus to Government requirements the huts are first offered for sale to the owner of the land. The balance not required by the owner are then handed over to the Ministry of Works for disposal. If the hon. Member has any specific case in mind where undue delay in disposing of huts seems to have occurred, I will gladly investigate it.
