§ Mr. WestwoodThe number of admissions to the poor's roll in the Sheriff Courts for the year 1939 was 1,718 and for 1944 (the last year for which figures are available) 1,021. Statistics are not available as to the kinds of cases, but it is estimated that some 90 per cent. were 219W concerned with affiliation and aliment. Divorce cases are dealt with in the Court of Session where the numbers of admissions to the poor's roll for the years mentioned were 296 and 964, about 90 per cent. probably being concerned with divorce petitions.
