asked the Minister of Works whether he is yet in a position to make a statement as to the setting up of a committee of inquiry into the brick industry.

Mr. Tomlinson

A sub-committee of the National Brick Advisory Council was set up by the Council in August, 1942, to inquire into the technical aspects of the industry This sub-committee is still at work In consultation with representatives of the employers and workers 1 am now finding members for a further committee with the following terms of reference:

" To consider and report upon measures that might be taken to make the brick industry more attractive to recruits, excluding wages and terms of employment falling within the negotiating machinery of the industry."
