§ Major Wilkesasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that CJX 258919 G. Rankin of 1, Walter Terrace, Newcastle-on-Tyne, 4, who joined the R.N. on 17th February, 1941, 183W and was released on 27th November, 1945, has not yet received his gratuity in spite of various applications to Chatham R.N.B.; that this delay is causing considerable hardship; and whether he will expedite payment of gratuity in this case.
§ Mr. AlexanderA Post Office Savings Bank book credited with the amount due was despatched to Mr. Rankin on Friday last. I regret the delay in making payment, but Mr. Rankin had previous Army service and it was necessary to obtain details of this to enable the total amount of gratuity to be calculated.
