HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 c145W
Mr. R. A. Butler

asked the Minister of Labour how many men and women are now employed in making munitions and equipment for the Services.

Mr. Isaacs

The returns rendered by employers show that the number engaged in the manufacture of equipment and supplies for the Forces at 31st December, 1945, was approximately 1,790,000. Investigation of a proportion of the returns, however, shows that this figure is probably an over-estimate.
