§ Mr. Goochasked the Minister of Agriculture the rate of pay for prisoner labour on farms; and if he proposes to take steps to ensure that this class of labour does not compete unfairly with our own farm workers.
§ Mr. CollickThe charge now made for prisoners of war working in agriculture on a time basis is 1s. 3d. an hour. This rate142W is now under review, and an announcement will be made very soon. As my hon. Friend is aware, every possible care is taken to make sure that the employment of British farm workers is not in any way prejudiced by the use of prisoner labour.
