Commander Douglas Marshall

asked the Minister of Agriculture the present number of men, excluding prisoners of war, employed in agriculture in the county of Cornwall on 1st January, 1946, and what was the number on 1st January, 1939, respectively.

Mr. Collick

The nearest dates for which figures are available are 3rd June, 1939, and 4th June, 1945. The numbers of male workers, regular and "casual" then shown in the Agricultural Returns as employed in agriculture in Cornwall were, respectively, 11,129 and 12,101 (excluding prisoners of war but including youths).
