HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 c153W
Mr. King

asked the Minister of National Insurance what provision is to be made for women who, through no fault of their own, have divorced their husbands; and whether, for the purposes of national insurance, they can be classed as widows.

Mr. J. Griffiths

Under existing contributory insurance schemes women whose marriage has been terminated by divorce have the status of unmarried women. This position is maintained in the National Insurance Bill now before Parliament.
