HC Deb 14 February 1946 vol 419 cc152-3W
Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Labour what number of men between 19 and 21 years of age have been released from the Services under the Class B scheme; and for what purpose.

Mr. Isaacs

The information asked for in the first part of the Question is not available. As regards the second part it is necessary in the case of certain occupations for Class B release to be offered to young men in late age and service groups in order to obtain the numbers required. This is the case, for example, in certain building and ancillary occupations, certain railway occupations, and deep-sea fishing. Where release is by nomination, very young men are not normally included.
