§ 88. Mr. T. Reidasked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement on railway stocks on which no dividends, or dividends of less than 2½ per cent., were paid in the peacetime years 1936, 1937 and 1938.
§ Mr. BarnesThe nominal amount of railway stocks of the main line railway companies on which no dividends were paid in respect of the years 1936, 1937 and 1938 amounted to £78 million, £78 million, and £363 million respectively. The corresponding figures in respect of stocks on which dividends of less than 2½ per cent. were paid are £193 million, £193 million and £43 million respectively.
