§ 42. Mr. Keenanasked the Minister of Food if he will inquire into the refusal of the Liverpool Food Control Committee to grant a licence for sweets and groceries to J. W. Gillen, 19a Everton Valley, Liverpool; and if he is aware that Mr. Gillen is an ex-Serviceman and has reopened an old-established business but his renewed application has been recently turned down, which is resented by the residents of the district.
§ Dr. SummerskillThe rules governing the granting of licences have been relaxed since the refusal of this application. The Liverpool Food Control Committee are today reconsidering Mr. Gillin's application under these revised instructions. If his application is again refused he may appeal to the divisional food officer.
