§ Mr. BarnesThis accident occurred when one empty train overtook and collided with the rear of a stationary one between Stratford and Leyton; the section of line on which the collision occurred is not yet opened for passenger traffic. I regret to say that one of the Board's staff was killed and three seriously injured. An inspecting officer of railways has been appointed to hold an inquiry into the accident, and until his report has been received I must reserve any statement upon the cause or causes.
