Pooleasked the Minister of Health what action he proposes to take to alleviate the shortage of nurses, in view of the fact that the General Nursing Council is unable to cope with applications for admission to the roll of assistant nurses and that applicants are having to wait several months for decisions.
§ Mr. BevanApplicants for enrolment can continue to nurse while the General Nursing Council is considering their applications. Some waiting is unavoidable as references have to be taken up, but the period is being reduced.
