§ 88. Major Vernonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the present composition of the Legislative Council in Sierra Leone; how many of the members are Europeans; how many are African; how many are appointed; and whether it is proposed to increase the elected membership.
Mr. Creech JonesThe Legislative Council is composed as follows: the Governor as President, 11 official members and 10 unofficial members. Of the unofficial members there are three nominated protectorate members who are Africans, three elected African members for the Colony and urban and rural communities, two nominated African members and two nominated European members. It is not proposed to increase the elected membership at present.
