§ 90. Mr. Harold Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Government of Fiji will consider granting loans for the construction of houses to approved members of the public on the lines of those granted to civil servants.
Mr. Creech JonesNo, Sir. The Government of Fiji, is, however, considering the establishment of a housing board, to serve the general public. One of its objects will be to construct cottages to be let at moderate rents to approved families. The achievement of this object will probably mean substantial financial assistance from Government.
