Lieut.-Commander Hutchisonasked the Minister of Works the number of hotels, business premises and dwelling-houses, respectively, in the city of Edinburgh which are at present under the control of his Department; the numbers in each category of these premises which will be restored to their owners within the next six months; and the numbers in each category which his Department proposes to hold permanently.
§ Mr. TomlinsonFive hotels, 16 business premises and 35 dwelling-houses are still held for official purposes by my Department. During the next six months, it is anticipated that none of the hotels will be given up, but that 13 properties previously used as business premises and nine dwelling-houses will be released. Until alternative accommodation can be made available it will be necessary to retain indefinitely one private hotel which had been closed voluntarily by the owners 217W early in the war, one property previously used as business premises and 16 dwelling-houses.
