HC Deb 09 December 1946 vol 431 cc176-7W
103. Mr. Champion

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that contractors on housing schemes are unable to purchase timber except in small quantities and, as a result, an additional 20 per cent, is charged, with a consequent effect upon the expenditure of public funds; and if he will see that this practice is stopped.

Mr. Marquand

No, Sir; but, if my hon. Friend knows of any cases where licence holders are unable to obtain timber except in small quantities for reasons which are within their suppliers' control, we shall be glad to look into them.
